Site diary: San Ginesio, from shell to roof.
Three months of works told in photos, solutions, and a few surprises.
When we opened the San Ginesio site, the house was little more than a shell: load-bearing stone walls, a roof to rebuild, no services at all.
The first month was all subtraction. Demolish carefully, salvage the sound materials, understand what the house still wanted to say before adding anything new.
Then the roof: chestnut beams, reclaimed tiles wherever possible, contemporary insulation hidden beneath the historic covering. This is where a farmhouse stops being a ruin and becomes a home again.
Three months on, the first rooms hold light again. The works continue, but the direction is clear — and we document it week by week.
